February is here, so that must mean PACER!
Students at Olympia West Elementary School are starting to run the Fitnessgram PACER every Thursday up to Spring break. “It is a wonderful way to keep our students aerobically prepared for their spring Mile Run we have in May”. It is a 20 meter sprint that gets faster each time they hear “the beep”. Students run till they can no longer keep up with the beep, and then their test is done. The goal is for students to increase their number each week, and to challenge themselves to work hard each week to achieve this. Their scores then are used as part of the data for Fitnessgram, that is tallied every fall & spring, and is distributed to parents in a bi-annual report.
Students are listed on our PACER Board each week so that they can keep track of their success but that also of their peers.
