Welcome to Olympia North Elementary School, where learning is the purpose. Located in Danvers, Illinois, Olympia North is one of three elementary schools in the Olympia School District and serves students from the communities of Danvers and Stanford. Olympia is a large, rural consolidated school district in central Illinois. Students in pre-kindergarten through the fifth grade attend school at Olympia North. Our students go to Olympia Middle School when they enter the sixth grade. High school students from the Danvers and Stanford attendance areas go to Olympia High School. The middle school and high school are located outside Stanford.
Our mission is to inspire, educate and challenge each student to achieve personal success. Students at Olympia North are given the widest range of learning experiences that we can possibly provide and we continuously strive to improve student learning. We strive for students to make meaning from and demonstrate an ownership of their learning. Students problem solve, question, investigate and make decisions using various learning strategies to deepen their understanding.
There are a variety of special education programs offered to the students as well as physical education and general music. We use an array of technology to enhance and transform the classroom for our 21st century learners. The current School Improvement Plan at Olympia North Elementary School focuses on improving reading across the grade levels. This is an endeavor that the teachers have been working on tirelessly for the past several years.
Olympia North currently has an enrollment of approximately 275 students. We value our tremendous parent and community support. A great way to contribute is through our parent-teacher organization. PTO offers opportunities for all parents to become involved in their child’s education through various committees and projects.
Our staff uses innovative teaching and learning practices while emphasizing collaboration. The teachers at Olympia North are committed to continuous student improvement and are motivated to ensure that each student experiences fulfillment in learning. Multiple professional development opportunities are offered throughout the year, with improved student learning being the ultimate objective. We encourage you to remain in continuous contact with your child’s teacher.
