The OHS girls swimming team has had a successful year. Their team was significantly larger than past years which helped them with winning meets and setting records for their relays and individual swimmers.

Olivia Forrest and Camryn Becker were the two seniors on the team this past season. They were very successful in beating their own times and both set school records. They both enjoyed their senior season, Olivia said, “My favorite part of my season was breaking 2 varsity relay records with the most amazing teammates.” Camryn said, “I enjoyed how bug our team was compared to previous years, half our team was freshman but that's what made it fun and easy to win our meets.”

Setting a PR in swimming is a huge accomplishment and pushes you to do better and work harder. Olivia beat a lot of her own times throughout the season. She said the one time that she was most proud of was her 200 free because she had been working on that time ever since freshman year and was excited to beat it her senior year.

Records were broken during the season which is a big accomplishment for the swimmers and the school. Camryn said, “I set the 200 free relay and 200 medley relay records. These records were really old and had not been broken for a while, so I was proud that I could be a part of it.”

Olivia also set a few records, she said, “I broke the 500 free and the 200 free along with 2 relay records. I would say I was the most excited about my 200 free because I have been working on that one for a while.”

Both of these seniors plan to continue their academic and athletic career in college. Olivia will be swimming for the University of Nebraska at Kearney and Camryn will be swimming at Wesleyan. Both of them are excited to continue swimming and are looking forward to making the best of their seasons coming up.

Going from high school to college is a big step and can be exciting yet nerve-racking at the same time. Olivia said, “Something that I am looking forward to about swimming in college is making new friends and just experiencing college swim.” Camryn said, “I am looking forward to having a bigger team and working harder to get better.”

These two are excited but also have things that they are not looking forward to about college swim. Olivia said, “I will definitely hate not swimming with my high school friends. I was swimming with them even before high school so it will be hard not having them by my side.” Camryn said, “I'm not looking forward to swimming with girls from the suburbs. They scare me.”
