State Board of Education Visits Olympia

State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Carmen Ayala, Chief Education Officer Dr. Ernesto Matias, and Early Childhood Director Carissa Hurley visited Olympia on Friday, September 6th.  Dr. Wise shared the District's Strategic Dashboard, our Skills Based Competency System, and need for Early Childhood Funding.

Principal Lee lead a tour through OMS Science and Math classrooms where students where sharpening their STEM skills.  Dr. Jodlowski led a tour through OHS Science classrooms where students were explaining how science relates to the College Career Pathway.  Dr. Ayala and Dr. Matias along with Spanish Teacher Natalie Cahill entered into a conversation with the class, all spoken in Spanish!  Dr. Ayala, Dr. Matias, and Director Hurley were complimentary of our students.

Dr. Jodlowski shared our work with building students' College Career Readiness Skills.  Dr. Jodlowski also highlighted that several students are interested in jobs where there are current and projected shortages, and since students are funneling into pipelines to fill shortages, their chances of landing great jobs after High School and College are better than ever.

Dr. Wise would like to thank Dr. Ayala and her team for visiting Olympia and for their genuine care for the education and well-being of our students.
