Students in the Olympia Engineering and Design Class tested cardboard boats in the pool this week. Students began the process by defining the problem and researching solutions. The task was to design a boat from cardboard and duct tape that could support two passengers and complete a course in the pool. Students designed solutions by creating drawings and then testing scale prototypes for buoyancy, strength, and stability. Prototype analysis was used to construct final products.
