First graders in Mrs. Gray’s class beat the teacher! AGAIN!! We are playing “beat the teacher” each day on our class. The first graders earn points by staying on task, following directions the first time, being kind friends, etc. Miss Shindollar and Mrs. Gray can earn points if they have to give directions repeatedly, the class struggles to get quiet or transition. So far, they have the best record! Today they earned an afternoon dance party!

Ms Metz's second graders shared their amazing habitat projects with fourth and fifth grade classes! Fourth and fifth graders remembered doing this fun project and the second graders loved showing what they learned.

Our 5th Graders are busy preparing for student-led conferences. We can’t wait to have you come celebrate with us on Monday or Tuesday!

2nd - 5th Grade students working on coordination using agility ladders and cardio running shuttles.

Mrs. Gray’s first graders are loving getting to work with our student teacher from ISU, Miss Shindollar! Today, Miss S. And the gang worked on an opinion readers response. They wrote letters to the crayons of “The Day the Crayons Quit” and have them reasons why they should or shouldn’t quit. After writing, some of our firsties got on stage and shared their work! Well done everyone!!

First graders had a great time with a little valentine experiment! They dropped candy hearts in water, vinegar, and ginger ale. They made predictions ahead of time and also made observations throughout. They were excited to watch the changes right before their own eyes!

Did you know that when Atlanta was founded it was originally called Xenia? That's just one of the facts third graders learned as they studied the community and how it has changed through the years. At the end of the unit, students created historical brochures about Atlanta.

First graders in Mrs. Gray’s class have a strong sight word game! Students practice their individual lists each day and are tested weekly to show what they have mastered! Students receive a red certificate when they have mastered all 164 1st grade sight words! They receive a purple certificate when they master the bonus list of 160 MORE words! Great job to all of our firsties as they master their lists. We can’t wait to hand out more certificates!

First grade working on their cardio and building skills while playing “Double Track Cup Attack”.
