The Olympia Board of Education and the Olympia Foundation for Education are proud to announce that Kayla Craig and Jessica Steel have been awarded the Special Education Tuition Scholarship. This scholarship was established to support future teachers as they pursue their professional certifications to become special education teachers.
Both recipients have demonstrated a commitment to the district and a deep passion for fostering inclusive learning environments. A short bio of each recipient is included below.
Kayla Craig
Currently serving as an interventionist at Olympia South, Kayla is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Special Education at Grand Canyon University. Known for her work ethic and willingness to go the extra mile, Kayla is a valued member of the Olympia South team.
Jessica Steel
A paraprofessional with five years of classroom experience at Olympia Middle School, Jessica has also been recognized for her exceptional devotion to student success. Jessica is well-regarded for her patience, adaptability, and the strong, supportive relationships she builds with her students.
As part of the scholarship agreement, both Kayla and Jessica have committed to serving the Olympia school district as teachers upon the completion of their degrees. Their dedication will play a vital role in strengthening the district’s capacity to support students with diverse learning needs for years to come.
