Tara Loyer, 2nd Grade Olympia North, is one of the 336 teachers across the State of Illinois to recertify as a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT). Alyssa Jones, Olympia Instructional Coach, is one of 127 teachers across the State of Illinois to certify as a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT).
National Board Certification is achieved through a rigorous, performance-based assessment of a teacher’s pedagogical skills and content knowledge. The certification process generally takes one to three years to complete.
A comprehensive study by the nonpartisan National Research Council found that students taught by Board Certified Teachers make higher gains on achievement tests than students taught by non-certified teachers.
The Olympia District is proud of these two teachers and are so thankful that they have chosen to work in our buildings with our students and staff. Congratulations Tara and Alyssa!
